After

good time they plan to do it again next month! Come see Dave and Pete
together again at the South Shore Grill on Greenwood Lake Tpk in
Hewitt on Saturday, March 7th, 2009, 8pm - 12pm.
HISTORY
Once
upon a time in a land right around the corner, there was an original
band that stirred up the metro area called Dan Kidney and the
Pulsations. The time was 1986. Many clubs were played, two CD's and a
live tape were released and played and there was merriment. In 1994,
they "decayed" into "Pulse D.K." (get it?) - two
guys in a basement "with nothing better to do... than sit around
the house, get high and watch the tube..." (No thanks, Steve
Miller, not for us). Guitarist Dave Kraemer and bassist Ken Colgate
(D & K, get it?) were in that basement playing all their fave
cool songs or writing some if that was cooler. The inspiration was:
1.
To bring this great classic music to people
2.
To be flexible enough to play more than "rock venues"
3.
A big sound with two people and Harmony is awesome
4.
Get out of the basement!
They
were whipped into shape by veterans of the local open mic scene:
Bill Blois working Riddles and McKennas, John Sheehan at Jiggs's
Corner, Mike Hoffman at the White Horse and Chris Hopp at Hansil's.
They soon landed double gigs at Jiggs's Corner and Duffy's in 1995
playing whatever they felt like (just like in the basement!) and a
splendid time was guaranteed for all. Sharon Kraemer, Dave's wife,
joined them occasionally on harmony and lead vocals; and Chris
"you guys need a drummer" Hopp joined on drums to make an
electric trio.
The
radioactive Dan Kidney and the Pulsations had a half-life of eight
years; the next decay took place four years later. Ken felt the
family life calling him in early 1999. Dave knew Pete Bremy from the
open mic scene at Jiggs's Corner where they shared hosting on
alternating Fridays, and as bassist for Jeff Guenther's Retrofitz.
Kenny thought Pete would be a perfect replacement. Willing to add his
character to the duo, Pete accepted the challenge to keep Pulse D.K.
"puls"ating. So now, it's Dave and Pete (D & K, get
it.... oh well, Pete can't spell anyway). Rather than lose the
notoriety Dave and Ken had already started by changing the name, they
left well enough alone at Pulse D.K.. So, on bass, Pete is the
"Pulse" and Dave Kraemer is the "D.K.".
After
Chris Hopp suffered a severe shoulder injury, Ron Zito joined the
group on drums for trio gigs. Ron is an extremely talented, well
rounded singer and musician who also plays guitar, bass and
keyboards. He often played bass when Pete was being called by another
band, or Vince Martell, or even the Vanilla Fudge themselves. Ron,
being involved in many projects was at times unavailable, so Mark
Papianni, another great drummer, began to sub for Ron.
In
2005, the band had a gig that neither Ron nor Mark could cover, so
Pete asked Bobby 'Boom Boom' Einreinhofer (G.W. Toye, The Delivery
Boys) to sub. Soon after, Bobby was caught up in the demise of his
Delivery Boys and was looking for a new "Rock Home". Seems
like he found it in Pulse DK as he's not only displaying his talent
as a drummer, but a booking agent as well! So now what? "Pulse
D.K.P.B.B.B.B."? Sure, just say "Pulse", and hum while
rubbing your finger up and down your lips! Okay- Now stop drooling! :-)
Sharon
Kraemer often drops in with cool vocals to add the feminine touch,
and other special guests drop in from time to time too. You still may
find Ron Zito, or Mark Papianni on drums... both fantastic drummers!
Look
out, New Jersey! With a set list of over 230 songs from Southern
Rock to British Invasion, from "A"llmans to
"Z"eppelin, they cover about every form of popular music
over the last five decades, Pulse DK is spreading Classic Rock like
wildfire, and it's just as hot. And you'd better keep your eyes open
too, Orange County!

DK rocks! |
